I started my Rolex collecting journey back in 2016 after I closed a big deal – I had beaten my personal best and I just had to purchase a Rolex to cement that feeling of being untouchable and successful! Mind you Rolexes were relatively easy to come by back in those days.
I started collecting watches more seriously around 2011 when I purchased my first “Swiss” watch – A Zenith Rainbow Flyback after spending countless hours researching and researching about in-house movements and then trying to find one of these awesome watches. I now have over 30 watches in my personal collection!!!
My Rolex journey continued with lovely 6 digit references – Submariners and Datejusts.
The 6 digit Rolex watches whilst absolutely stunning to look at and yet whilst very close to perfection I often thought to myself that they lacked something….
They lacked charm! Everything about them was so almost perfect but they missed something – A personality. Yes you can be successful in a well fitted suit but you can also be successful in chinos and a nice tee. There’s something about a jingling Oyster bracelet and the aluminium bezels that are like speaking to an old friend every morning. Like starting an old Alfa or an e39 BMW or even winding up a trusty Speedmaster, you form a bond over time or if you have just purchased one it amazes you as it feels like you’ve owned it for many years. You get the solid build quality and accuracy of a Rolex but with that vintage or should I say neo-vintage charm. They can still be worn as a trusty daily and are very reliable, serviceable and repairable – You can have your vintage cake and eat it! I can’t describe the fit – How about perfect?
Living in London the other issue I find is if I wear one of my 6 digit pieces they just attract the wrong attention. They’re very “Bling” ok having a Steel and Gold Submariner doesn’t help my case but it’s a lovely watch and I like nice watches. When I wear a 5 digit piece – It’s amazing at how they just fly under radar. It’s a Rolex but they don’t scream “ROLEXXX” like the 6 digits do.
The other thing I find is the size of the 6 digit references – The maxicase 116610LN with it’s maxi dial and blocky case – It’s nice but it’s a chunky watch. Rolex did address most of these issue with the 126610LN but the increase in size, weight and bracelet width still make it a watch that shouts “Look at me”.
It’s the same with the Explorer 2’s but not as prevalent.
Let’s not get started with the Sea Dweller 43! I love the red text but how many of us have an 8inch wrist to actually pull it off!
We specialise in the following Professional pieces:

Buying Tip:
Are you buying to wear and enjoy or stick it in the safe? Perhaps it’s a mix? That’s your decision!
5 Digit Rolexes are approaching an age where buying on condition is more important than buying a bad condition (skinny lugs, over polished or uneven facets) with papers watch.
Ideally you can strike a good balance between both but if you’re going to enjoy and wear then prioritise condition. There’s nothing like purchasing a watch and then being unhappy about it or having a regret – It will gradually eat at you and you will end up selling it and starting the hunt all over again! You also have to remember and this is a very important point… You can’t wear papers and the box! I am speaking from my own experience here!
Why buy from us:
- All watches are authenticated
- All watches are put on a timing machine to let you know how accurate they are
- The watch will be thoroughly checked and I will provide a detailed report regarding originality of the watch from dial, hands, bracelet, end links, clasp, state of polish and lug / facet thickness. You can buy from us with confidence!
